All-new Jeep Cherokee 'the complete car'
When it comes to delivering punchy off-road capability and premium driving on normal roads, the all-new Jeep Cherokee is leading the way.
This stylish model is ambitious in scope and keen on setting a new standard in the mid-size SUV segment, with various upgrades making it one of the most user-friendly cars in its class.
There are two engine options at present: 140hp and 170hp 2.0-litre turbo-diesel. The latter, powerful in scope, has a nine-speed automatic gearbox, which is another first amongst mid-size SUVs.
Additionally, the state-of-the-art transmission is available in four trims, including Longitude, Longitude+, Limited and Trailhawk. The Trailhawk is a special addition – it comes with a massive 3.2-litre petrol engine.
These are also some of the cleanest, most environmentally-friendly engines ever to be installed in a Jeep Cherokee. Courtesy of the adoption of light-weight materials and the clever design – efficient in nature – this model is decidedly green.
"As the Cherokee wears the legendary Jeep badge it will be one of the most capable cars around, no matter what surface it’s on," the company stated.
"New suspension combines with a very rigid bodyshell to make it comfortable, refined and enjoyable to drive on the road. The fuel-efficient Jeep Active Drive I four-wheel drive system automatically switches between front and all-wheel drive when required.
There are also endless amounts of technology with this upgrade. For example, it comes with a TFT screen in the instrument cluster; a five-inch colour touchscreen central console; cruise control; parking sensors and dual-zone air-conditioning.
Drivers will also be pleased to learn that the Cherokee is one of the safest cars on the road today, with EuroNCAP awarding it five stars. It also comes with 70 safety features, including the Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation system and ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist.
As for design, the Cherokee remains true to heritage while advancing a modern silhouette that is beautiful to look at and very practical too. The result is a vehicle with a "smooth and sophisticated top half and a rugged bottom half" that work together to deliver a "a powerful stance and commanding road presence".
