Ford's executive chairman, Bill Ford is to speak at a world leading technology conference in November, with the aim to invite developers to design apps for SYNC, Ford's in-car, voice activated connectivity system.

Ford will speak on the opening day of Web Summit, a technology and idea conference that will take place in Dublin from November 3rd to 5th.

He will invite developers to take part in a 24-hour challenge to design apps for SYNC, the winner of which will receive £55,000 prize money and the opportunity to develop new apps with Ford.

The SYNC AppLink Challenge Dublin is the first SYNC developer challenge in Europe and as part of the challenge, Ford will meet with the participants to discuss his vision for the future of mobility and how technology will make people's lives better.

Scott Lyons, of Connected Vehicle and Services, Ford of Europe commented: "Smartphones are central to our lives at home, at work, and on the road. Working with innovators from outside of the automotive industry is a proven way of generating ideas that can enhance the driving experience. SYNC AppLink Challenge is the ideal opportunity to tap into the talent that can generate truly innovative and disruptive ideas with the potential to be translated to reality."
