Peugeot's new 108 is a self-assured vehicle that is looking to take the city car segment to a whole new level of brilliance.

The company describes the new look as exhibiting a "forceful new exterior styling" that does the "chic about town" car vibe very well.

Some highlights of the 108 include its lush electric fabric roof and a modern and "connectivity-orientated" interior.

Ivo Groën, design director of the new Peugeot 108, said that the impetus behind the new look was a desire to create a "more premium and sophisticated" car and make it distinct from other models.

"The 107 had a very cab-forward ‘mono-volume’ silhouette, which at launch in 2005 was very modern," he continued.

"We wanted to give the 108 more of a nose and the powerful feeling that comes with that. We wanted to reduce the glass and increase the sculpting of the body, and at the same time give it a timeless elegance."

Thanks to Peugeot's reinterpretation of the "floating-grille", "lion claw" lamps, a sporty roof spoiler and a cleaner silhouette, the company has certainly achieved a masterwork in design.
