Celebrating the Renault Clio
The Clio took the coveted title of Best Small Car 2024 at the What Car? Car of The Year Awards in London.
Celebrated annually, the awards recognise the latest innovations in the motoring industry. With a panel of judges ranging from automotive journalists to product experts and beyond.
Though it was the Renault Clio that scooped up the award for Best Small Car – and it’s not hard to see why!

Award-winning design
From the front, the new grille with full LED headlights and the new Renault badge gives a clean, modern look. The rear also features the updated emblem, with black lettering and full LED rear lights.
Three trim levels are available, including evolution, techno, and eSprit Alpine. The latter offers the sportiest level of style, with 17” diamond cut alloy wheels, and extra special interior touches.
Inside, the compact yet spacious cabin is sure to appeal to all. The seats feature soft upholstery made from 60% plant fibres – both comfortable and sustainable! They even stood out to judges for their comfort, setting them apart from others in the segment.
As for technology, there’s a seven-inch digital display to keep you informed, along with a seven-inch multimedia touchscreen. Using this, drivers can seamlessly switch from navigation to music streaming, and stay connected on the go. Complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Keeping you safe is a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) on board. These include Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning System, Traffic Sign Recognition, and more. All so you can drive confidently wherever the Clio takes you.
Powerful and efficient
Also owing to its success is the Clio’s practical and refined petrol engine. Unlike most petrol engines of today, the Clio’s TCe 90 engine allows you to enjoy more efficiency and power.
It offers a more refined drive with an engaging manual gearbox and is fitted with a timing chain to reduce maintenance costs. With a combined mpg of between 53.3-54.3, you can maximise your miles and make the most of your fuel.
For a petrol engine, the TCe 90 also achieves a reasonable 118-120g/km of CO2 emissions. Obviously, it’s not as efficient as its full-hybrid alternative, but it comes pretty close.
As for performance, the Clio offers a fun, energetic drive with 160Nm torque and a maximum speed of 112mph. Not that you’ll be reaching that on the motorway! It also reaches 0-62mph in a respectable 12.2 seconds, given it’s a compact hatchback and not a race car.
Overall, the Clio is a confident all-rounder, offering impressive performance and efficiency.
