Hyundai all-new i20: full details revealed

Hyundai has revealed full details on the all-new i20, following the release of its first images last month.

Based on a new, larger platform to its predecessor, the European design team paid particular attention to achieving balanced proportions, with the generous shape and long hood creating a powerful stance.

Features include front and rear parking assist, heated steering wheel, automatic defog system, LED daytime running lights, distinctive 'boomerang'-designed lamp clusters, lane departure warning technology and Hill Start Assist Control.

The new generation i20 comes with a full-length panoramic sunroof that can be tilted and fully opened.

Other features include a dashboard-integrated seven-inch satellite navigation system, automatic folding door mirrors, front and rear parking assist, and smartphone docking integration, plus USB, Bluetooth and auxiliary connectivity.

Nine exterior colours are available to choose from, as well as a range of different interior colours and combinations.

Engine options include a choice of two 1.25-litre petrol engines with 74bhp and 83bhp, a 1.4-litre petrol producing 98bhp and two diesel options: a 1.1-litre 74bhp and 1.4-litre 89bhp.

Thomas Burkle, Chief designer at Hyundai Motor's Design Centre Europe, said: "The bold and distinctive volume of the new i20 gives the car a unique personality, which is underlined by the premium look of the headlamps and rear combi lamps. For example, the concave element below the rear lamp expresses the three dimensional and sculptural aspect of the Hyundai design language."

The rear bench can also fold fully flat, meaning boot space is boosted from 326litres to 1042litres.
