About EXCELR8 Motorsport

EXCELR8 Motorsport was founded by the inspirational Justina Williams in 2010, and secured a championship title in its first season of competition in the MINI CHALLENGE.

Since then, the team has taken more than 100 race wins and over 40 titles which included the British Touring Car Championship crown with Tom Ingram in 2022.

That came in just its fourth season competing in the premier series in British Motorsport, further enhancing the team's ever-growing reputation.

Rich Motorsport Heritage

Founded back in 1958, the British Touring Car Championship is universally known and loved around the globe, and it isn't hard to see why.

Fast, frenetic action on track draws in huge crowds year-on-year, with race fans able to enjoy unrivalled access to the stars and cars in what has long been the most popular domestic series in British Motorsport.

It's for that reason, as well as the fact that fans can relate to the recognisable models doing battle on track, that the BTCC is only beaten by heavyweights F1 and MotoGP when it comes to trackside numbers.

In broadcast terms however, the BTCC actually has a far more impressive television package, with every race being shown on free-to-air TV rather than requiring a subscription.

In 2019, Tom triumphed on four separate occasions- including a sensational double-top at Silverstone in a new Toyota Corolla. The following year, he once again drove the Corolla to several victories, finishing fourth overall.

During the 2021 season, Tom took on a new challenge moving to EXCELR8, taking to the tracks in the Hyundai i30 N Fastback.

After a magnificent season, Tom achieved his lifelong dream and earned his maiden Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship Title for 2022.

Nick has a raft of experience despite only making his racing debut in 2017. He won the AM category in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge in his second season on track, and has also been a race winner in the prestigious British GT Championship.

Having scored two overall points finishes during the 2023 season, and with a year of experience now under his belt, Nick will now aim to fight his way up the order during the season ahead.

    Race Schedule

A BTCC season features ten events at eight of the leading circuits in the UK, running from Donington Park in late April through to Brands Hatch in early October. Each of those ten race meetings includes three action-packed BTCC races and a busy package of support race to provide fans with maximum entertainment and astonishing entertainment - with a day trackside being comparable price wise to an afternoon watching a rugby or football match.

After a season learning the ropes in the BTCC, the EXCELR8 Motorsport team embarked on a huge new challenge for 2020 as it introduced the Hyundai name to the series for the first time.

Building a car based around the Hyundai i30 Fastback N - a model chosen for its favourable combination of wheelbase, track width and drag co-efficient - enabled the team to grab a first podium finish and quickly establish itself as a regular contender for top ten results in the highly-competitive field.

Race wins followed in 2021 with a breakthrough title in just the fourth year of the programme in 2022 as Tom Ingram added his name to the list of BTCC champions.

For 2023, Tom was joined by namesake Tom Chilton and Nick Halstead in a revamped driver line-up, and for 2024 season they celebrate the 100th anniversary of Bristol Street Motors with retro-style livery.

    Hyundai i30 N Performance

The i30 N was the car that Hyundai used to launch the 'N' performance brand back in 2017, shaking up the market and marking the Korean carmaker out as one to watch in the hot hatch sector. Winner of Autocar's 'Game Changer Award' and named Best Hot Hatch by What Car?, the i30 N has proven to be hugely popular as an alternative to cars like the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Honda Civic Type R and has undergone a number of improvements to retain its position as a car that blends performance and value in equal measure.

Motoring excellence on the track and the road

Our partnership with EXCELR8 within the BTCC has proven to be a huge success in recent years, and we are thrilled to extend our agreement into 2024 and beyond.

The team shares our drive and desire to be at the very top, which has been reflected in the results that have been scored on track, and the way in which our partnership has grown ever stronger off track.

We look forward to not only cheering the team on in its bid for Championship silverware, but also continuing to engage with BTCC fans to enhance their experience on race weekends. I have no doubt that there will be plenty more to celebrate in the coming seasons.

    Robert Forrester
Chief Executive of Bristol Street Motors

"We are delighted to have extended our partnership with Bristol Street Motors, and even more so that the new agreement is for multiple seasons. Their support has played a key role in the success that we have enjoyed on track, culminating in the championship victory in 2022, and has also allowed us to increase our engagement with our fans.

"Developing long-term relationships such as this is far from easy and it takes a lot of hard work from everyone involved to ensure that they are successful. With the stability of a new multi-year agreement in place, we can now look forward to working with Bristol Street Motors to build on everything we have achieved together so far."

    Justina Williams
    Team Owner at EXCELR8 Motorsport

Last year, we were the only team to really take the fight to Ash for the title, and it was only one race at Knockhill that ultimately prevented us from taking that fight right to the very end. Over the winter, we have been working hard to make a strong package even stronger, and ensure we have a car that is both consistent and quick every weekend.

This is a championship where you can never stand still, and our focus has to be on making sure we leave no stone unturned to do the best job possible. We know that its going to be a hugely competitive season, as it always is, and we go into 2024 with one aim reclaiming that championship title for Team Bristol Street Motors.

    Tom Ingram
    Driver at EXCELR8 Motorsport

Getting back onto the top step of the podium was fantastic for me personally last season, and I feel extremely positive about what we can achieve in 2024 with everything that has been going on behind the scenes.

The new partnership between EXCELR8 and Team Dynamics is bringing together two of the best engineering teams that have competed in the series, and is a further indication of how serious Team Bristol Street Motors is about fighting for this championship. Its mega to be a part of it again.
