Laguna set for crossover upgrade

The Renault Laguna is set to be overhauled in order to spark new life in to the model.

That is according to Auto Express, which claims the car is set to be upgraded into a crossover.

It comes as part of wider plans to breathe new life into the Laguna and Espace models, which have seen their popularity wane in recent years.

Thierry Sybor, Renault's UK managing director, told the news provider that the firm must learn from its mistakes and take the models in a new direction in order to create a bigger buzz.

"If we come up with the same sort of car as the Laguna and Espace, we will have the same results. But if we can come up with new concepts, there may be an opportunity for us," he explained.

"The situation is like when Nissan got rid of the Primera and went with the Qashqai and Juke. It works."

Renault's decision could come as a result of the runway success that Nissan has had with the Qashqai and Juke models.

Indeed, the former has picked up a number of industry awards this year, recently adding the CAP Used Car of the Year prize to its haul.
