In a vote run by fan engagement experts, Snack Media, the Englishman won with 24% of the vote, with Sheffield Wednesday’s Tom Lees in second place with 15%.
Ayling was part of a backline that kept two clean sheets throughout the festive period, making 18 tackles in the process.
