Renault Scores a Hat Trick at the Carbuyer Best Car Awards 2021

Renault scooped up three awards at the 2021 Carbuyer Best Car Awards, with the Zoe, Clio and Captur all being recognised.

The annual awards ceremony was held online and live-streamed across YouTube and the Carbuyer website, acknowledging the best-in-class vehicles across multiple categories.

The Renault Clio was named ‘Best Small Car’ for the second year running, with judges praising the supermini for its quality interior design, superb practicality features and for its hybrid technology.

Richard Ingram, Editor of Carbuyer, said: "Last year's overall Car of the Year couldn't be beaten in 2021. The Renault Clio's appeal goes from strength to strength with the addition of new engine options and hybrid technology. It's the best small car currently on sale."

The Renault Captur took the top spot in the ‘Best Small Family Car’ category thanks to its stylish design, spacious interior and low running costs.

Richard Ingram said: “The latest Renault Captur takes everything we love about the Clio and wraps it up in a desirable crossover body. This no-compromise SUV continues to impress thanks to its class-leading tech, spacious cabin and advanced powertrains. No small family car can match the Captur's far-reaching talents."

Finally, the Renault Zoe won the ‘Best Small Electric Car’ award, which was a new category for this year’s ceremony, to reflect the move towards electric vehicles in the automotive industry.

Commenting on the Zoe’s success, Richard Ingram said: “The Renault ZOE set the benchmark all others had to meet, and this second-generation model raises the bar once again. The ZOE offers a greater driving range than most of its rivals, in a well-equipped and easy-to-live-with package. It's the perfect first EV."

All three models are firm favourites with many UK drivers, so it’s no surprise that they took the top spot in each of their categories.

Vincent Tourette, Managing Director, Groupe Renault UK, said: “We are exceptionally pleased to win these awards, which are a great reward for our commitment to exceeding our customers’ expectations. With the Clio, Captur and ZOE, our small car family has never been stronger, and whether customers are looking for electric, hybrid or traditional engines, we are able to offer innovative, class-leading vehicles.”
