Renaultsport Clio 200 Turbo hot hatch detailed

French car giant Renault has revealed the specification details of its powerful Renaultsport Clio 200 Turbo hot hatch.

As soon as motoring enthusiasts who are familiar with the original Renaultsport Clio feast their eyes on the facts and figures, they will quickly notice that the new hot hatch is both lighter and quicker than its predecessor.

In fact, at a total weight of 1,204kg, the new Renaultsport Clio 200 Turbo is actually a whole 36kg lighter than the previous model.

This substantial weight shredding has helped Renault to add more performance to its striking Clio 200, which is evident when realising that getting the hot hatch from 0-62mph now takes a mere 6.7 seconds.

Of course, a phenomenal engine arrangement will need to be fitted for any car to achieve such sensational speed.

As such, drivers will find a new Renaultsport-developed, 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine under the Renault hot hatch's sleek bodyshell that has to be sampled to be truly believed

This motor, which works in tandem with Renaultsport's first ever Efficient Dual Clutch transmission system, helps the Clio 200 Turbo to deliver maximum power output of 200hp at 6,000rpm and up to 240Nm of torque at between 1,750 and 5,500rpm.

Away from the hot hatch's performance capabilities, the vehicle is also sure to stand out on the road thanks to its exterior being fitted with a F1 blade front bumper, a state-of-the-art Renaultsport rear spoiler and diffuser, as well as stunning gloss black 18-inch Renaultsport wheels with red brake callipers.

Summing up the appeal of the new Clio 200 Turbo, Ali Kassai, the programme vice-president of Renault's A/B range, said: "It impresses by the fact that it is so easy to drive, as well as by its unprecedented comfort and low fuel consumption which make it a more versatile machine than any other sporting Clio that has gone before it."

Drivers in the UK can get their hands on the new Renaultsport Clio 200 Turbo hot hatch from this June.
