SEAT unveils new Toledo

Spanish carmaker SEAT believes it will offer UK motorists an "attractive look with amazing practicality".

That is after it unveiled the new SEAT Toledo, which it claims will offer "excellent value for money".

The new model comes in a wide range of options, with drivers able to choose from a 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre TSI engine or an efficient 1.6-litre TDI unit.

SEAT has described the new model as carrying the elegance of a coupe with the versatility of a hatchback.

Dr Matthias Rabe, vice-president of research and development at the manufacturer, said: "The new Toledo is a true SEAT - perfect for the demands of everyday life, with the highest quality and reliability.

"The latest drive and chassis technologies of Volkswagen Group deliver excellent driving fun, as well as outstanding efficiency and safety. And when it comes to consumption and emissions figures in particular, the Toledo is among the best-in-class."

At 4.48 metres long, the new Toledo is four centimetres longer than the previous version and as such drivers can expect a greater feeling of interior space and plenty of legroom for all passengers.

James Muir, the firm's president, believes those sitting behind the wheel for a test drive of the new car will note SEAT's ability to combine amazing practicality and dynamic driving fun.

"This is how we envisage the perfect saloon. Our customers will say: 'That is a great car at a great price'," he added.

SEAT is anticipating high demand for the new model and will launch the car in Spain and Portugal in November this year, before subsequent launches here in the UK and in Germany, Mexico and Turkey.

Earlier this year, SEAT announced the launch of the new Exeo, which was said by the firm to offer "savvy" saloon and estate buyers more style, economy and refinement than its rivals.
