Nissan Demonstrates Commitment to Safety with Latest EURO NCAP Ratings

Euro NCAP has published its latest wave of vehicle safety ratings. And it is good news for those who already own - or are interested in buying a Nissan!

The latest additions to Nissan’s ever-growing electrified line-up, achieved great scores in the latest Euro NCAP tests. The all-electric ARIYA, and X-Trail with e-POWER both achieved five stars.

Plus, Nissan’s popular Juke and Qashqai models have recently received Hybrid and e-POWER drivetrains, respectively. The five-star Euro NCAP ratings awarded to the original models have been carried over to these electrified variants too.

This means Nissan’s entire electrified offering has a clean sweep of five-star Euro NCAP safety ratings. Perfect for added consumer confidence.

Adult Occupant Rating

The ARIYA and the X-Trail with e-POWER both scored highly in the Euro NCAP Adult Occupant Protection category:

- ARIYA – 86%

- X-Trail with e-POWER – 88%

Both models are built with ultra-strength steel which provides rigidity but also absorbs impact in the event of a collision. This protects the passenger safety cell within the vehicle. A central airbag has also been added to prevent the clash of heads between the driver and front passenger in the event of impact from either side.

Child Occupant Rating

Both the ARIYA and X-Trail with e-POWER scored impressively in the Child Occupant Protection category:

- ARIYA – 89%

- X-Trail with e-POWER – 90%

The testing involved crash assessments based on the safety of six- and 10-year-old children. The vehicles’ Child Restraint Systems helped the models score highly across the board.

Safety Assist

Of course, it is always preferable to prevent accidents from happening in the first place, rather than limiting their impact. Therefore, the Euro NCAP team took kindly to the Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies onboard the ARIYA and X-Trail with e-POWER.

The ARIYA and X-Trail with e-POWER both come equipped with several advanced safety systems. These include:

- Autonomous Emergency Braking (will start to brake if the car in front is braking)

- Blind Spot Intervention (steers the vehicle back into its lane when another vehicle has not been spotted in a neighbouring lane)

- Intelligent Emergency Braking (will automatically apply the brakes if the car anticipates impact with a vehicle, pedestrian, or cyclist)

- Moving Object Detection (signals to the driver when a possibly unseen hazard is close by)

Nissan X-Trail

The Juke Hybrid and Qashqai with e-POWER have both been awarded the same high score in the Safety Assist category as the traditionally powered versions, as they provide the same level of driver support.

The recent five-star ratings for the ARIYA, X-Trail with e-POWER, Juke Hybrid, and Qashqai with e-POWER demonstrate Nissan’s commitment to providing safe mobility solutions for all.
