When it comes to car servicing, we offer both interim and full services, for your flexibility. All car services involve a comprehensive health check, but there are a few small differences to be aware of.

  • Interim Service

    Interim service

An interim service is recommended roughly every six months for high mileage vehicles. We will check that key components are in good working order, change your engine oil, and install a new oil filter.

  • Full Service

    Full service

A full service is the most popular type of car service. It's generally recommended annually for average mileage vehicles. It is a more comprehensive inspection of your vehicle and includes changes to the engine oil, oil filters, and air filters.

Manufacturers have different service guidelines based on specific time and mileage schedules. You can check the recommended service interval for your car in your vehicle handbook.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need to get my car serviced?

Ensuring you get your vehicle serviced regularly will help to keep key vehicle components in good working order, reducing the risk of a breakdown or an accident due to worn, damaged or unsafe parts. Plus, having a full service history when it comes to selling your car means you're more likely to get a higher valuation, as it demonstrates the vehicle has been well maintained.

How often do I need a car service?

You should try and get your car serviced according to the manufacturer's guidance. You can find details of the recommended service schedule in your owner's manual or online. Every car is different, so it's best to check for your own make and model.

Do you service all makes and models?

We can service all makes and models at our nationwide dealerships.

What type of service do I need for my car?

We offer full and interim servicing, depending on the annual mileage and age of your vehicle and the recommended service intervals from your manufacturer. If you need guidance on what type of service you require, please refer to your vehicle handbook or get in touch with your local dealership, and a member of our team will be able to help.

Do you provide service plans?

Yes! The Bristol Street Motors Personal Service Plan allows you to spread your service and MOT costs out, over affordable monthly payments. You could even save up to 25% compared to standard dealership service rates, giving you one less thing to think about.

How much will a service cost?

The price of a car service depends on the vehicle and the service required. At Bristol Street Motors, we offer fair and transparent pricing, which means that all invoices will match quoted prices, and any work carried out will always be agreed in advance.

How long does a car service take?

A full vehicle service will take around three hours, and an interim service will take around one and a half hours. If additional work is required, this will take more time, but this will be outlined by the technician working on your vehicle.

What if my vehicle needs extra work?

If we identify that your car requires some additional work following the service, we will discuss this with you to make sure you're happy with our suggestions. The cost for additional work will be agreed in advance, so you'll always be aware of this when it comes to making the final payment.

Do you service electric and hybrid vehicles?

Yes! We can complete interim and full services on your electric or hybrid vehicle, at any of our dealerships.

What is covered by new car warranty?

New car warranties differ by manufacturer. However, you can find out the specific items covered by your warranty by checking the vehicle handbook. Alternatively, you can contact the dealership where you purchased your vehicle.

Its important to remember you are not always covered as certain things can void your warranty.

These include, but are not limited to:

  • Exceeding mileage limits
  • Overloading your vehicle
  • Not regularly servicing your vehicle
  • Using the wrong type of fuel and unapproved fluids
  • Vehicle modifications
  • Vehicle misuse
  • Aggressive driving

If you get yourself an extended warranty, the terms of your warranty may be different. You should always check your specific terms with your warranty provider.

On the other hand, fluids such as oil, antifreeze and brake fluid are not covered by a warranty. In addition, any wear and tear parts such as tyres and windscreen wipers are not covered. Plus, any scratches or cosmetic damage is not generally covered by warranty.

Does car warranty cover MOT failure?

No, an MOT is a legal requirement mandated by the UK government.

What are the benefits of extended warranty?

Extended warranty is additional cover that offers you extra peace of mind. The warranty provider covers all the repair or replacement parts in your vehicle, specified in your contract.
