Frequently asked questions

What are the benefits of choosing Bristol Street Motors for my car service?

When you visit Bristol Street Motors, you can rest assured that you are receiving a trusted service, completed to the highest standard by our manufacturer accredited technicians.

Working alongside vehicle manufacturers to give your car the service it deserves, we operate in partnership with the Motor Industry Code of Practice.

Using the latest diagnostic technology, we are confident we can solve any problems with your car quickly and efficiently.

We understand that time without your vehicle can be a challenge, that's why we offer 'while you wait' servicing, a courtesy car, or a collection and delivery (subject to availability).

Do electric & hybrid cars need servicing?

It's important to regularly book your electric or hybrid car in for a car service. Like petrol or diesel cars, car servicing helps to stop any potential issues in their tracks. It can also save you money in the long run by making sure your car is performing at its best.

The only difference during an electric or hybrid car service is the checks that are carried out. Checks can cover electrical components including the battery, charging ports, and cables.  At Bristol Street Motors, we offer full or interim car servicing for electric and hybrid cars.

Why do I need to get my car serviced regularly?

It's important to look after your car the way you would look after yourself.  With regular car servicing, you can spot any problems before they become something bigger and extend the lifespan of your car. This can save you money in the long-run on costly repairs or breakdown recovery.

A full service history can also help to maintain your car's value should you decide to sell your car. People are more likely to buy a second-hand car if it's undergone regular servicing and may even pay a premium for it.

Why should I choose Bristol Street Motors for my MOT?

Stay legal and safe with an MOT test at Bristol Street Motors.

Using the latest technology, our friendly team are also on hand to get your car road ready, at a fair price.

Plus, while you wait for your MOT to be completed, you can enjoy free refreshments and Wi-Fi in our comfortable customer areas.

Alternatively, if it suits you better, we can provide a courtesy car, or a collection or delivery service (subject to availability).

How much does an MOT cost?

An MOT test costs £54.85 at Bristol Street Motors.

All MOTs are completed by our qualified nominated MOT testers, and you will also receive a complimentary check video, and a full wash and vacuum.

Why are tyre checks so important?

Tyres are one of the most important parts of your vehicle. They can also be the first parts to show signs of wear and tear. It's important to keep them in good condition to stay safe on the road.

Worn, under-inflated tyres, or having the wrong type of tyres fitted to your vehicle can all have a negative impact on fuel consumption.

Once tyres reach a certain level of wear, they can become noisier on the road and harm the environment by polluting the air with rubber particles.

Take advantage of a free tyre check at Bristol Street Motors, where our professional team will assess the generation condition of your tyres.

What is a seasonal check?

A Bristol Street Motors seasonal check is a detailed examination carried out by our highly trained technicians to ensure your car is ready to take on the elements, no matter what season it is.

Chilly winter temperatures and intense summer heat can take their toll on your vehicle's performance. Our check can highlight any issues that need attention and prevent future problems too.

What is a warranty and what does it mean for your car?

To see what your warranty covers, always make sure to check the vehicle booklet or with the manufacturer for any exclusions as it can differ between each manufacturer.

The warranty will cover the cost of any confirmed warranty defects and excludes wear and tear items and replacements, as well as servicing maintenance.

You also have the option to buy a Motor Assured Warranty which is an extended dealer guarantee.

If you buy an approved used car through a manufacturer programme, you will receive an approved used warranty.

It's best practice to service your vehicle in line with the manufacturer's schedule to avoid invalidating your warranty, and to keep your car in great condition.

Does a manufacturer's warranty cover servicing?

Your manufacturer's warranty covers the cost of any confirmed warranty defects but doesn't cover regular servicing.

With a Priority Service Plan, you can spread the cost of servicing for three years with interest-free, manageable monthly payments and make sure all car maintenance costs are taken care of. Find out more information about the Priority Service Plan, here.

Why is it important to get a Vehicle Health Check?

A free Vehicle Health Check (VHC) is carried out whenever you bring your car into one of our workshops for an MOT, service, or repair.

It helps us to assess the general health of your car and spot any issues. This is a full inspection from bumper to bumper looking at:

  • Vehicle interior and controls
  • Key fluid levels
  • Lights
  • Brakes
  • Steering
  • Tyres
  • Suspension.

You'll receive a video of the check to show you the overall condition of your car and highlight any issues found.

Why should I take out a Bristol Street Motors Priority Service Plan?

Join the Bristol Street Motors Priority Service Plan to spread the cost of your car servicing for three years with manageable, interest-free monthly payments. You could save up to 25% on our standard servicing costs.

Our manufacturer accredited technicians use the latest vehicle technology and genuine manufacturer parts, and you can take advantage of a complimentary courtesy car by simply booking online or giving us a call.
