Automatic joins upgraded Mazda2 range

An automatic model has been added to the upgraded Mazda2 range.

The new Activematic features a 1.5l engine, complete with four-speed automatic transmission returning 44.8mpg with 146g/km CO2.

All of the new and improved Mazda2s offer improvements in interior comfort and an upgraded exterior featuring newly-designed front fog lamp bezels and wheels.

"While the Mazda2 retains the original Zoom-Zoom driver appeal, our engineers have responded to media and owner feedback about our most popular model which accounts for 25 percent of Mazda sales in Britain," said Mark Cameron, sales director, Mazda UK.

He added that the automatic Mazda2 Activematic is sure to be popular with drivers.

"The new automatic 'Mazda2 Activematic' is certain to expand the appeal of our smallest car. Changing traffic conditions and advances in automatic gearbox technology are steadily increasing the attraction of this kind of transmission," he continued.

The Mazda2 recently received praise from Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond, who wrote in the Mirror that the vehicle is on par with other rivals in the small car market.
