Vertu Motors plc is investing £450,000 in the former Co-op Motor Group dealership in Nottingham.

Bristol Street Motors, a Vertu Motors company, has taken over the retail site from New College Nottingham (ncn).

The College, trading as The Nottingham Motor Company, took the dealership over in April 2013 from the Co-operative Motor Group, to develop an authentic training environment for its motor vehicle students. This latest deal will mark another step forward in the programme; bringing together practical and theoretical study for learners within a truly commercial setting. More details about the new partnership between Bristol Street Motors and ncn will be announced next year.

Bristol Street Motors Nottingham will open in late January and will take on full franchises for Renault and Dacia alongside Honda Motorcycles and offer servicing, MOTs and repairs. It will offer a full range of new and used cars.

Colleagues from the dealership have been deployed to other Bristol Street Motors dealerships in the area until the new site is up and running. The Group already operates Citroen, Volkswagen and Hyundai dealerships in Nottingham.

Robert Forrester CEO of Vertu said: "This is an opportunity for us to introduce Renault, Dacia and Honda Motorcycles to our portfolio in Nottingham.

"The newly-refurbished dealership will open in the New Year and all the former Co-op Group employees will return. Customers will be safe in the knowledge that there will be familiar faces, backed by the ethos of unrivalled customer service and satisfaction that Bristol Street Motors prides itself on."

Dawn Whitemore, Principal and Chief Executive of New College Nottingham said:
"This new deal moves the students' experience up a notch this time giving them opportunity to train alongside mechanics working for a nationally-renowned brand like Bristol Street Motors. It is truly unique and exemplifies our commitment to ensuring our learners are equipped with the skills local employers are looking for."
