Citroen emergency system wins Euro NCAP rating
A new emergency communications system developed by Citroen has been awarded the Euro NCAP Advanced award at the Paris Motor Show.
The eTouch Emergency & Assistance System includes automatic SOS emergency calling in the event of a road accident, while motorists can also use it to request roadside assistance manually.
It features a SIM card and integrated GPS functionality, enabling it to notify emergency services of the exact location of a Citroen vehicle.
The manufacturer reports that the system will be available in the UK on C4, C5 and DS3 models.
"The Euro NCAP Advanced Reward recognises Citroen's drive to improve safety and security through the application of this new technology," the company states.
Drivers could be interested to note that the emergency system also includes a range of monitoring services, which could help them keep on top of maintenance and fuel economy.
Citroen will unveil five world premieres at the Paris Motor Show this month - the DS4, the new C4, the DS3 Racing, the DS3 WRC and the Lacoste concept.
