Community Heroes from the two finalists were given the opportunity to enjoy a true money-can’t-buy experience at the EFL Trophy final – all thanks to title sponsors Bristol Street Motors.

Bristol Street Motors – part of the wider Vertu Motors group – joined forces with the English Football League earlier this year, with the award-winning national automotive brand becoming title sponsor of Trophy and Official Car Dealer of the EFL.

The first Bristol Street Motors Trophy final saw Peterborough United go up against Wycombe Wanderers, with the two clubs each nominating a fan who they felt deserved recognition for their work within the community.

David Allen from the Peterborough United Foundation and Kirk Williams from the Wycombe Wanderers Foundation were the pair who were chosen to attend the game as guests of Bristol Street Motors, with a behind-the-scenes tour of the famous Wembley Stadium and hospitality in the Bobby Moore Suite both being provided.

Before taking their seats for kick off, David’s brother Richard was able to join Kirk in walking out onto the Wembley pitch to deliver the Bristol Street Motors Trophy as part of the pre-match presentations.

“We’ve been looked after really well all day, with the chance to look round the ground and do a challenge on the pitch before enjoying the game,” Richard Allen said. “The Bristol Street Motors Trophy Final has been a truly memorable day that I’ll remember for a long time.”

It was a similar story for Kirk, who was joined at the game by daughter Tilly, despite the fact that it was Peterborough who emerged victorious, with an injury time strike from Harrison Burrows securing a 2-1 win.

“We had a brilliant experience throughout the day, touring the stadium, meeting Adebayo Akinfenwa and David Seaman, and then the big moment of carrying the Trophy out onto the pitch.

“The whole thing was an unbelievable experience, and a huge thank-you has to go to both Bristol Street Motors and the EFL for the opportunity.”

Alongside the Community Heroes, a number of other fans were able to enjoy a trip to the final as a result of the ticket initiative that has been run by Bristol Street Motors throughout the competition, with clubs being provided with tickets to hand out to community groups across every round.
