Fiat 500 and Hyundai i10 to battle for city car crown

This year's What Car? Car of the Year Awards will see two of the most-popular city cars pitched against each other.

The Fiat 500 and Hyundai i10 have both been shortlisted for the new City Car of the Year category.

A win for the Fiat 500 would cap a remarkable year for the Italian firm, as the supermini has picked up a number of accolades for its eco credentials over the past 12 months.

However, Hyundai has earned rave reviews for its i10, which has captured the imagination of the British driving public.

The two motors will battle for the title against a clutch of competitors including the Kia Picanto, the SEAT Mii, Skoda Citigo and the Volkswagen Up.

Fiat's 500 has enjoyed a boost in profile in recent weeks thanks to an advertising campaign with Jennifer Lopez.

The singer has appeared in a TV advert, while the 500 has joined her on stage and in the video of her new single Papi.
