Ford Transit and Tourneo Custom vans set world first
Ford's Transit and Tourneo Custom vans have become the first one-tonne vehicles to earn a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP test.
All in all, the American vehicle giant had a great day at the office when subjected to the strict analysis of those at Euro NCAP.
This is because Ford was also the recipient of the first-ever Euro NCAP Advanced rewards for technology available on a commercial vehicle with its Lane Keeping Alert technology.
On top of all of this, the manufacturer was also praised when its SYNC with Emergency Assistance was presented with a further Advanced reward.
Andre Seeck, the president of Euro NCAP, commented: "Transit Custom owners will now be able to benefit from safety and driver assistance technologies which were previously only available on passenger cars."
When it comes to the Ford Tourneo Custom, the recipient of the 2013 International Van of the Year was applauded for its child protection capabilities (achieving a rating of 90 per cent), adult protection (84 per cent) and its safety features (71 per cent).
