Mazda attempts Guinness World Record with MX-5

Mazda's MX-5 is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the "largest parade of Mazda cars" on June 15th in Lelystad, Netherlands.

IMAX-5 2013, as the event organised by Mazda is known, will attempt to break the record, which was set when 459 MX-5s were paraded in Essen, Germany in 2010.

The event aims to get as many as 800 MX-5s to the RDW Test Centrum in the Dutch town for the 16:30 CET procession. It will follow a 15km route across the nearby polder landscape.

Accompanying the main event will be a range of activities on site from when the gates open at midday, including the opportunity to test drive new SKYACTIV Mazda models and ride race simulators.

The Mazda MX-5 is the best-selling roadster of all time, having shifted over one million vehicles over its 24-year existence.

Anyone who owns an MX-5 and is interested in participating in the procession should register online. Tickets cost 30 (£25) per car (two people) and include a warm meal and two drinks each.
