Seat records market growth

Seat has recorded new sales records in both the UK and its native Spanish market.

According to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the last 12 months have seen the manufacturer achieve a market share of 1.62 per cent in the UK, beating its previous record of 1.5 per cent in 2009.

The company sold 32,935 new cars in the UK in 2010, compared to 29,987 in 2009.

Models that proved particularly popular included the Seat Leon Cupra R, the Seat Alhambra, the Seat Ibiza five-door and the Seat Exeo.

Seat UK managing director Peter Wyhinny said: "With one of the youngest volume manufacturer line-ups out there, plus a strong and successful network of dedicated dealers nationwide, Seat is ideally placed to build on the success of 2010."

He added that he expects "continued growth" in 2011.

Meanwhile, Seat is currently running a VAT-free offer on a number of its cars, as well as half VAT on others.ADNFCR-3205-ID-800329063-ADNFCR
