Stability seen in used car market

Drivers could find that now is a good time to invest in a second-hand vehicle as thee is good balance between supply and demand.

Figures from the latest CAP Black Book have shown stability in the used car market at present, with the trend set to continue for a matter of weeks.

However, those looking to invest in a convertible in light of the warmer should be aware that prices for the models tend to increase just before summer, having recently risen by 2.6 per cent.

Meanwhile, costs for 4x4s are currently "overheated", according to the publication, so used car buyers might want to bide their time before investing in the models.

"The ending of official scrappage may well bring renewed focus by customers on used cars. Such an increase could be significant in its impact on late stock in particular," the Black Book suggests.

Auto intelligence firm EurotaxGlass's suggested earlier this year that 2010 could be a challenging year for the used vehicle market in light of the effects of the scrappage scheme.
