When will the Mazda CX-5 go on sale?

Mazda has confirmed that its new compact SUV range will be known as the CX-5.

Embodying the manufacturer's Kodo - Soul of Motion design theme, the car is the production model derived from the Mazda Minagi concept car, which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.

According to the firm, the model will boast a number of new Skyactiv technologies when it goes on sale in Europe in early 2012.

New transmissions, engines, bodyshells and chassis will feature in the Mazda CX-5 range.

The company expects to debut the car at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September this year, while it could also be followed by larger CX-7 and CX-9 vehicles, depending on individual markets.

Mazda's popular MX-5 sports car was recently voted Best Convertible at the CarBuyer Awards, beating off competition to achieve a 4.6 star rating.

Judges commented that the MX-5 offers "something for everyone, and the tiny two-seater is great fun to drive". ADNFCR-3205-ID-800503400-ADNFCR
