Abarth to unveil Fiat trio in Frankfurt

Fans of the work Fiat's tuning partner Abarth has done on the Italian marque's reworked 500 model have been given another reason to look forward to the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Abarth has announced that the event will be used to unveil a trio of new Fiat models that have been given its famous tuning treatment.

Among the special edition models will be the Punto SuperSport, the 695 Competizione and the 500C Cabrio Italia.

The SuperSport retains all that is good on the Essesse Punto, namely the 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, and tweaks it to boast two-tone paintjob, 18-inch alloy wheels and red brake callipers.

Stiffer suspension, Koni dampeners, lowered springs and a sports exhaust system add to the cars appeal and sports credentials.

For the ultimate driving enthusiast, the 695 Competizione, blurs the lines between road car and race car by doing away with the back seats to make way for a roll cage.

"Flappy paddle" gears, Brembo brakes and a 'Record Monza' sports exhaust are also included in the package.

Abarth has already worked its magic on the 500C, but takes it up a notch in the styling stakes by giving the supermini a drop top, a 158bhp engine and five-speed manual gear box.
