Bristol Street Motors Invites Midlands Centenarians to Celebrate 100 Years

In a bid to commemorate a century of automotive excellence, iconic national car brand, Bristol Street Motors, which was born in the Midlands, is embarking on a heartwarming quest to find individuals born in the area 100 years ago.

Bristol Street Motors is asking media to help find local people to take part in the celebrations.

If you or someone you know fits the criteria, please contact Caroline Walker or Joss Havakin at 01325 363436 or email [email protected] to ensure their inclusion in this monumental celebration. The deadline for submissions is 29th February 2024.

The national automotive brand is extending a special invitation to those turning 100 this year to join in the celebrations of its own 100-year birthday, taking place on 18 March at its first dealership, which still stands on Bristol Street in Birmingham.

Bristol Street Motors, which now fittingly has over 100 sites across England, and represents more than 15 of the world's major manufacturers, is especially keen to find anyone born on 18 March 1924 and shares a birthday with the business.

The grand celebration is set to take place at the Bristol Street Motors showroom in Birmingham, where a nostalgic journey through the decades awaits the centenarians. The event promises an engaging morning filled with camaraderie, joy, and a glimpse into the remarkable history of Bristol Street Motors.

As part of the festivities, the distinguished guests will have the opportunity to indulge in a delightful afternoon tea, surrounded by the company of fellow Midlands centenarians and the warm hospitality of Bristol Street Motors colleagues. The showroom will be adorned with memorabilia from the past century, offering a nostalgic walk down memory lane for both the honourees and attendees.

Bristol Street Motors, a name synonymous with automotive excellence, has played a pivotal role in shaping the Midlands' motoring landscape over the last 100 years. From its humble beginnings to becoming a cornerstone of the community, the dealership has witnessed the evolution of the automotive industry and has consistently provided top-notch service to generations of loyal customers. It formed the basis of Vertu Motors plc, one of the UK’s largest motor retailer groups, when it was established back in 2006.

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Bristol Street Motors, said: “Over the last 100 years, Bristol Street Motors has been a name synonymous with the best of the midlands. While preparing for these celebrations we have uncovered documents and photos linking us with names like Noddy Holder, Ken Dodd and Aston Villa legend Dennis Mortimer. We’ve also found various advertising campaigns and newspaper articles that are hugely interesting, and show that our approach to being a positive force in the local community has remained consistent.

“We’re really keen to have a brilliant birthday bash, which celebrates others who have been around for the last 100 years, and if we can find anyone born on the same day, that really would be incredible. I’m really interested to hear how the area has changed over the years.

“While the first Bristol Street Motors dealership remains in the same place, it forms the core of a growing national business with dealerships across the country. We’ve come a long way since some of the black and white photos we’ve come across!”
