Dacia Duster sweeps into Frankfurt Motor Show

The new Dacia Duster model is to make its first appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with the car having been adapted to be introduced into the left hand drive markets.

Dacia, a Romanian car brand which has Top Gear's James May as a notable fan, has only recently made its first steps into the UK market.

The new Duster model has mostly kept the features which made the earlier design so successful, but includes what the brand describes as, "more emphatic 4x4 design cues".

One of the most apparent changes is the new front end upgrade, which welcomes a redesigned grille, accentuated with two chrome-plated strips.

Furthermore, the new design features a new air intake and double-optic headlights, with daytime running lights.

The new designs and upgrades are intended to make the car more robust both on the road and off it.

Head of styling for the Entry range David Durand said: “We built on the appeal of the original model and its proportions. Identity components such as the grille have been modernised.

"We have also strengthened the 4x4 cues of the vehicle, while keeping all its useful features. New Duster gets an even stronger character while retaining its initial DNA,” he added.

The back has also seen an alteration to the original design, with lights mimicking the front-end, and an increased use of chrome fittings to provide the car with more of an identity.

Dacia's new Duster also includes roof bars to emphasise its qualities as an SUV vehicle, as well as mud and snow tyres for more demanding terrains.
