EV Drivers to Share Home Chargers with New JustCharge and Zap-Map Partnership

EV Drivers to Share Home Chargers with New JustCharge and Zap-Map Partnership

In a new collaboration, home charger owners will be able to share their chargers with other EV drivers in a beneficial alliance.

All EV owners will enjoy several benefits from the JustCharge and Zap-Map partnership.

Those who do not own home chargers themselves will be able to have closer-to-home access for charging their vehicles. This will help to fit an EV into day-to-day life for more people.

Home charger owners will be able to opt into the scheme in a couple of minutes. By registering with JustCharge as a host, they can offer their home charger as a bookable location on the app. A JustCharge host will be able to make an extra source of income using this facility. This bookable charging point will also show on the JustPark app.

Zap-Map released their annual survey, and the results back up the partnership decision. Currently, 90% of the time, home chargers are currently idle. This means the majority of home charger owners could be making income during this idle time.

With 62% of drivers being less likely to buy an EV due to charging concerns, this partnership could offer peace of mind over charging. To be able to have a charger available to book close to home would help many get over the hump of uncertainty.

20% of EV drivers are willing to share facilities. This percentage translates to thousands of further available charging points for EV drivers. As EV ownership continues to grow, there will be increasing numbers joining the JustCharge and Zap-Map partnership. Maybe on your street, perhaps a neighbour, or even yourself.

Anthony Eskinazi, Founder and CEO at JustPark said:

“Launching our JustCharge listings onto Zap-Map is a huge step for our community charging network. With this partnership, EV drivers can now find and use charging points and enjoy finding one of the thousands of first bookable community charging locations via JustCharge.

“We are proud to partner with Zap-Map, not only to help improve the charging experience for existing EV drivers, but to encourage more drivers with their own home charging units to become a JustCharge host, unlocking the ability for their neighbours without a driveway to switch to an EV too also switch to owning an EV.”

Ben Lane, Co-founder & CTO at Zap-Map said:

“With ever more drivers making the switch to electric, access to a local charger is becoming increasingly important. Although the public charging network is expanding rapidly, there is a real need for community charging closer to home, providing a viable option for those without a driveway to charge an EV.

“The good news is that we know that a fifth of EV drivers are prepared to share their home charger with others, and that’s what makes this new partnership with JustCharge so exciting. Working together, we can give Zap-Map users even greater choice in finding a suitable local charger, creating an additional source of household income for those with home charging points, and providing real benefit to the local community.”
