Ford reveals its state-of-the-art EcoSport SUV

The Ford EcoSport SUV has been formally unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, ahead of its official launch at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show next week.

One of the main talking points about this new vehicle is how much technology the American car giant will be offering to drivers.

For starters, the Ford EcoSport will be equipped with the Ford SYNC AppLink voice-activated in-car connectivity system, which enables motorists to control apps on their smartphones simply through the power of voice.

This is the first time that the technology has ever been made available to motorists in Europe.

There is also the SYNC Emergency Assistance technique, whereby a vehicle's occupants can be directly connected to local emergency services should they suffer a crash on the road.

Paul Mascarenas, the chief technical officer and vice president of research and innovation at Ford, commented: "We are entering the age of the connected car and debuting EcoSport at Mobile World Congress underlines just how important advanced vehicle technology is to customers and to Ford."

More will be revealed about the Ford EcoSport SUV when it is given its official European unveiling at the 83rd Geneva Motor Show.
