Ford Tourneo Connect achieves landmark safety rating

The Ford Tourneo Connect has managed to make quite a statement in the Euro NCAP safety ratings, becoming the first compact people mover to claim the maximum five-star accreditation.

It follows the first-in-class, five-star safety rating achieved by the larger Ford Tourneo Custom people mover - which also became the first and only car in its class to take the same high safety score.

Stephen Lesh, Tourneo Connect chief program engineer for Ford of Europe, said: “The Tourneo Connect gives active families the space and versatility they need to live life to the full. This significant endorsement from Euro NCAP shows that we know how important safety is for our customers too.”

Customers benefit from a strong steel body, made up of ultra-high strength steels, as well as 16 per cent ultra-high strength boron steel.

Furthermore, the brand delivers a comprehensive restraint system as standard on the Connect, in addition to a whole range of airbags for drivers and passengers.

Michiel van Ratingen, secretary general at Euro NCAP, said: “The comprehensive package, which includes a driver-set speed assistance system, standard seatbelt reminders on the front seats and the low-speed autonomous braking system Active City Stop, makes the Tourneo Connect an attractive offering for safety-minded drivers.”
