Ford unveils the all-new 'charismatic' Edge

Ford has unveiled its all-new Edge, a "charismatic, spacious and smart SUV" that is an absolute pleasure to drive.

First launched in 2007, the model has revolutionised the SUV market, challenging long-established ideas about what this segment is all about.

The crossover car is described by the company as being "high tech and high efficiency", "smart with gas and brilliant with everything else", and attention grabbing.

It comes with a very striking design, thanks largely to a dynamic front grille and fluid, smooth lines that run along the side of the vehicle.

A unique feature is its panoramic Vista Roof, which is made up of a large forward panel. This can either be titled up or opened fully to let in light and fresh air.

"The striking exterior style translates smoothly to the inside of the cabin, with the sleek design flowing through the instrument panel, centre stack, door trim, floor console and shifter," Ford has stated.

"The exceptional quality of the exterior fit and finish is likewise evident in the materials and craftsmanship seen and felt throughout the interior."

Two versions of Edge's 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine will be available: a 180 PS version that produces 400 Nm of torque and comes with a six-speed manual transmission; and a 210 PS version that generates 450 Nm of torque and comes with a six-speed PowerShift automatic and paddle-shift controls.
