Mazda6 picks up Green Apple Award

The Mazda6 has claimed yet another accolade after the Midland Group of Motoring Writers recognised the car in its latest Green Apple Awards.

Thanks to the innovative SKYACTIV technology that is present in the vehicle, the model was able to fend off competition from hybrid cars to pick up the title of best "larger family car".

Held by The Green Organisation at the House of Commons, a group of journalists selected the Mazda to claim the title thanks to its "looks, economy and clever technology".

The latest Mazda6 is able to achieve 72.4 mpg while producing as little as 104g/km of CO2 emissions.

Peter Allibon, sales director at Mazda UK, said Mazda's "defy convention" mentality has helped it to achieve such an economical peak. He also expressed his delight that the technology was recognised by the judges for its abilities.

“New Mazda6 with SKYACTIV technology presents customers with an attractive ownership proposition, which appeals equally to the heart and the head. It delivers typical Mazda fun-to-drive performance, together with great economy and low emissions, plus high specifications, competitive pricing, low running costs and excellent residuals,” Mr Allibon concluded.
