New Renault Clio awarded five-star Euro NCAP rating

The all-new Renault Clio has achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating, even with the independent body introducing more stringent procedures for the test.

A global score of 85 per cent was awarded to the vehicle, which is among the best ratings given for its segment and a significant improvement over its popular predecessor.

The rating included the new Clio achieving top marks when tested for child protection, pedestrian protection and safety equipment.

From a safety point of view, Renault has fitted the dashboard of the all-new Clio with a pair of high-efficiency airbags, while the driver and front-seat passenger are also protected with seat belts equipped with pretensioners and load limiters calibrated at 400daN.

Pedestrian protection has also been thought out, as Renault has opted for a bumper design with no salient edges and the lower part of the windscreen is styled to reduce the risk of injury upon impact.

The new Clio is the 13th vehicle from Renault to achieve a five-star Euro NCAP rating, and the first since the independent body made the test even stricter.
