Nissan prepares to launch new Z-Car

Japanese car-manufacturers Nissan are preparing to launch a brand new model in the Z-Car range, the company's development boss has told Auto Express.

According to Andy Palmer, the car could see its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in November, and is likely to be a concept design.

Early suggestions are that the car will be much smaller and lighter than the 370Z model, and will have a much different look the average sports car.

While Palmer did give a nod towards the possibility of utilising an electric power system, it is more likely that the car will be powered by a downsized turbocharged petrol engine.

The car could also see a Nismo release - Nissan's brand of high-powered performance vehicles - with Palmer pointing towards the Juke Nismo for some inspiration for the upcoming vehicle.

Speaking to Auto Express, Palmer said that Nissan are looking to "address the next generation of sports car drivers".
