Peugeot reports huge levels of demand for 208

The 208 is proving to be one of the most popular models Peugeot has ever released, according to the French car manufacturer, which is reporting sustained demand for the new supermini.

Peugeot says that its award-winning new car, which went on sale on June 28th, has now secured over 7,500 orders since order books opened, with motorists drawn to its vast range of features.

The car maker notes that the 208 combines all the virtues of its series predecessors, but with numerous extra attributes, making it lighter, smaller on the outside, bigger on the inside and more aerodynamic than other models.

Morgan Lecoupeur, marketing director at Peugeot UK, said there has been an "incredible and positive response" to the new 208, which is evident in the initial 7,500 orders.

"It really has been a tremendous start for the car, as it was also named Best Supermini at the Auto Express Awards during the first week of launch," he explained.

The 208 also obtained five stars from Euro NCAP, certifying its safety credentials, and was the first car in its segment to achieve this following the introduction of a more demanding review criteria, Mr Lecoupeur highlighted.
