French car manufacturer Peugeot has announced that a new hybrid version of its Peugeot 208 supermini hatchback will be displayed at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

Entitled the Peugeot 208 HYbrid FE lightweight concept car, the French vehicle maker has already revealed that the supermini can limit its CO2 emissions to a mere 49g/km.

Although no official images of the prototype have been released, Peugeot went on to confirm that the car can also race to 62mph from rest in an impressive eight seconds.

Painting a detailed picture of the Peugeot 208 HYbrid FE concept into the minds of motoring enthusiasts, it has also been announced that the vehicle optimises aerodynamics through a petrol-electric power source.

A set of low rolling resistance eco tyres are also fitted to the car to increase its fuel economy rating, as well as reducing its tailpipe emissions at the same time.

Plenty more will be revealed about the Peugeot 208 HYbrid FE lightweight concept car when it is shown off at the 83rd Geneva Motor Show, which runs from March 7th to 17th.
