Burgess has been voted the League One PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Month by football fans across the country.
In a vote run by fan engagement experts, Snack Media, the Pompey defender won with 46% of the vote for January, with Sunderland’s Chris Maguire taking second place.
In the third of five divisional votes carried out over eleven days via Snack’s digital and social networks and supported by top flight football clubs and press, it was clear that the Englishman’s strong performances over the last month – in which he scored and made 27 clearances - has resonated not just with fans on the south coast, but with supporters of all teams.
The full list of contenders from the final shortlist polled were as follows:
Christian Burgess (Portsmouth) - 46% Chris Maguire (Sunderland) – 15% Sam McCallum (Coventry City) – 14% Daniel Barlaser (Rotherham United) – 11% Ivan Toney (Peterborough) - 8% John Akinde (GIllingham) – 6%
