Portsmouth FC super fan meets team hero

A lifelong Portsmouth FC fan had the chance to meet his football hero, thanks to the Professional Footballer’s Association and Bristol Street Motors.

Ross Stevens, 26, presented the club’s captain, Brett Pitman, with the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Month award, at the Fratton Park stadium.

Ross, who currently lives in Waterlooville, has been a Portsmouth fan since he was a child. He saw the opportunity to vote for Brett on Portsmouth FC’s Facebook page.

Ross said: “I’ve always been a huge Portsmouth fan and I always will. I absolutely love going down to Fratton Park and will support them no matter what.

“When I saw the advert on Portsmouth FC’s page, I thought ‘I am absolutely going to vote for our captain’ and I am glad I did! I love Brett’s performances and I know he really loves playing with the team. He’s our top scorer and I was very excited to present him with this award, it really means a lot.”

Brett Pitman said: “I’m delighted to win this award and I’d like to thank everybody who voted for me. As a striker it’s my job to score goals, so I’m pleased to have contributed so many for the team over the course of the month.”

Liz Cope, chief marketing officer at awards partner Vertu Motors plc - parent company of Bristol Street Motors - added: “We are delighted to continue to support the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Month award. Our dealerships across the country take pride in supporting their local communities, with everything from grass roots football to local charity support.
