Renault announces extension of Gordini line-up

Renault has confirmed that fans of its iconic Clio model will be able to choose from an extended Gordini range from next month.

The French firm has announced that it is now taking orders for a three-door 1.6-liter VVT128 version of the popular supermini.

A 1.5-litre dCi 106 model will also be available for delivery from September.

The former is set to cost £14,000 with the diesel version priced from £14,950.

Among the special features on the Gordini models will be 16-inch alloy wheels, the distinctive twin white Gordini racing stripes, a body-coloured spoiler, Gordini badges and added interior touches.

"The Gordini range has proved an immense hit, as illustrated by the success of Clio Gordini which accounts for 27 per cent of overall Clio Renaultsport sales in Europe and over ten per cent in the UK," Renault explained.

"Adding a little extra 'Va Va Voom' to Renault's best-selling model range, the petrol model welcomes the rev-loving engine from the former GT, itself slightly detuned from the grin-inducing Twingo Renaultsport 133."
