Renault tops Europe for low CO2 emissions

The Renault Group has been named as the European leader in the automotive market when it comes to low CO2 emissions.

The findings were released by Association Auxiliaire de l’Automobile-Data (AAA-DATA), and is based on passenger car sales during the first half of 2013.

Success in regards to this level of efficient performance has been vastly attributed to five models in the range, including the Twingo, New Clio, Captur, Megane and the Dacia Sandero. All of these vehicles release less than 100g of CO2/km.

While the New Clio Energy dCi 90 eco2 is the class leading vehicle at 83g/km, the New Clio range emits 18.5g of CO2/km less than models in the previous generation.

Furthermore, Renault has been named as the number one brand for electric mobility, with electric vehicle sales contributing to the low CO2 emissions across the group.

Jean-Philippe Hermine, director of environmental planning at Renault Group, said: “This position of market leader is proof that the combination of our powertrain strategy – with our range of Energy engines – and our electric vehicle strategy is bearing fruit.

"Thanks to these innovations, Renault Group is achieving tangible results and maintaining its objective to significantly reduce the long-term environmental footprint of its activities. At the same time, these improvements are beneficial for both the planet and our customers,” he added.
