New Renault Captur Revealed with Fresh Set of Upgrades

The new model features the brand’s latest design language, along with a host of exciting technical features.

  • The Renault Captur has long been a popular compact SUV, having sold over two million units around the world since its launch a decade ago.
  • With the New Renault Captur, motorists can expect an even more fun, connected driving experience.
  • Upgrades include a new front end and light signature, an updated rear, and advanced connectivity.
  • The New Renault Captur is expected to launch later this year, with three trims and two powertrains available.

Renault has unveiled its latest design for the New Renault Captur, a compact SUV favoured for its easy drive and distinctive style.

The launch follows several other revamped favourites like the Renault Clio and Renault Austral. Plus two new Renault cars expected to arrive this year.

Read on to see what’s changed with the New Renault Captur.

Expressive exterior design

With several new touches, the New Renault Captur looks more dynamic and energetic than ever. The new front end features the Nouvel’R one-piece logo, with a multi-faceted grille. This makes use of light and dark to create reflections that come to life with small, embossed parallelograms.

The new light signature includes half-diamond-shaped daytime running lights. Plus, a new welcome sequence when the driver unlocks the doors – for a warmer welcome. At the rear, the New Captur leaves a more lasting impression with transparent light housing, a new logo and redesigned diffuser.

Three trim levels are available with the New Captur, including evolution, techno, and esprit Alpine. The standard trim offers 17” alloy wheels and matt black accents, while the techno and esprit Alpine trims offer 18” or 19” wheels with a High Gloss finish.

New Renault Captur front profile

Characteristic of older models, the New Captur retains its two-tone body colour. This is optional on the techno trim and standard on esprit Alpine, with a range of colours to choose from. These include Arctic White, Oyster Grey, Diamond Black, Ceramic Grey, Iron Blue, and Flame Red. Complemented by a Diamond Black roof and door mirrors.

A compact SUV dedicated to your lifestyle, the New Captur also offers a range of new accessories. These include underbody lighting, sidesteps, towbars, bicycle racks and illuminated door sills.

Modernised interior

Inside, the New Renault Captur is now even more welcoming to both driver and passengers. Despite its compact proportions, it offers class-leading interior space for comfort and convenience.

Rear passengers can enjoy up to 221mm of knee room, on a rear bench seat that slides back up to 16cm. This can be easily rearranged to prioritise either load space or legroom depending on your needs.

The boot offers impressive standard loading volume at 536 litres, increased to 1,334 litres with rear seats folded. Making use of the modular seat bench, you can also get up to 1.57 metres of load length for longer items with a 2/3-1/3 seat split.

Elsewhere in the cabin, there is plenty of storage with 24.7 litres of space in total. This includes a seven-litre glovebox and map pockets on the front seat backs, depending on the trim.

With a minimalist style, the New Renault Captur appeals to all who enter. The interior is roomy and modern, with a grey and heather grey seat fabric on evolution trims. Yellow topstitching is added with the techno trim.

New Renault Captur interior cabin set-up

Serious about sustainability, the New Captur ditches leather or chrome, opting for a grained cover material. The upholstery is made from recycled materials, with the Alpine trim using over 26% of these to lower the Captur’s carbon footprint.

State-of-the-art technology

The New Renault Captur also takes infotainment and connectivity to the next level. Both driver and passengers will be comfortably entertained with a wide range of innovative features.

The OpenR Link multimedia system is featured on the techno and esprit Alpine trims, with Google built-in. This brings you access to Google services including Google Maps, Google Assistant and over 50 Google Play apps.

There are also two USB-C sockets featured as standard, with an additional two for rear passengers in higher trims.

In the driver’s cabin, a centre console houses the new 10.4” vertical touchscreen, with crisp graphics and touch sensitivity. Using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, you can play music and access apps just like you would with your smartphone.

As for safety, the New Renault Captur is now even more on-it when it comes to enhancing your drive. The latest SUV features a range of active and passive safety systems in three different categories. These are safety, driving and parking.

Safety Coach helps improve your driving, while intelligent speed assistance makes sure you’re always at the right speed. Other driving aids include:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS)
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Driver Drowsiness Alert (DAA)
  • Hill Start Assist
  • Front, rear and side parking sensors

With My Safety Switch, you can set preferences for up to five ADAS at one time to better suit your needs.

Choice of two powertrains

Made for the modern era of motoring, the New Captur features two efficient powertrain options. The 145hp E-Tech full hybrid offers the quiet performance and efficiency of an electric car with no charging required.

This innovative version combines two electric motors with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. The smart multi-mode dug clutch is actually clutch-less, allowing for a similar driving experience to full EVs.

For traditionalists, there’s a 1.0-litre TCE 90 petrol engine, offering 90bhp, 160Nm torque and six-speed manual transmission.

On the road, you’ll have four different driving modes to choose from with MULTI-SENSE. These include Eco, Sport, Comfort and MYSENSE, allowing you to tailor the steering and engine response. As you switch between modes, the interior lighting and dashboard display will change colour.

Something Captur’d your interest?

With the New Renault Captur, it’s clear to see the compact SUV has received quite the upgrade. Infused with the latest technology and with a new look, it will make the perfect car for both city driving and family road trips.
