Renault Trafic picks up two MPG awards

Renault cemented its position as a leading provider of commercial vehicles earlier this week with a double win at an industry event.

The annual ALD Automotive/Shell FuelSave MPG Marathon saw the French car firm's Trafic van pick up two awards.

In addition to the 'Best Overall Percentage Improvement" prize, the vehicle was also handed the "Class 8 Best MPG" honour.

The first came after the Trafic demonstrated an improvement of 54.73 per cent on its official fuel consumption figure.

Renault's second award was attained after it produced a performance of 59.11 MPG over the 370-mile course.

Ross Durkin, MPG Marathon organiser, said: "This is the Trafic's second win in two years and its margin of victory underscores not only the skill of the drivers, but also the frugal nature of Renault's 2.0-litre dCi engine.

"The van section of this year's MPG Marathon was extremely competitive and for Renault it was a doubly sweet moment when the second Trafic taking part in the event came second by the slimmest of margins."
