SEAT Ibiza scoops Eco Award

SEAT will be expecting a boost in orders of its Ibiza model from eco-conscious drivers following a recent awards win.

The Spanish manufacturer saw one of its most popular models pick up a prize at the recent 2011 Scottish Car of the Year Awards.

Drivers could be tempted to get behind the wheel of the SEAT Ibiza E Ecomotive after it picked up the Eco Award at the presentation.

John Murdoch, president of the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers, said the model was proof that saving fuel and saving the planet does not have to mean a reduction in "quality, comfort or driving pleasure".

"All of our contenders for the Eco Award more than satisfy with their economy and tax-busting emissions, but one car – the SEAT Ibiza E Ecomotive – stands out for us as 2011's best environmentally aware machine," he said.

"It's a car that just keeps on cutting the cost of driving, which always appeals to our Scottish hearts and wallets."

Peter Wyhinny, SEAT UK's managing director, added that the win shows that Scottish drivers are appreciating the firm's "mix of style, quality, dynamic ability and great value".
