Stunning Monza Concept shows the future of Vauxhall

Many readers will remember the original Vauxhall Monza very fondly indeed. All curves, cuts and slashes, and easily as modern as freshly sliced bread in its early-70s-time; the Monza of old was one of the coolest cars of its generation. Well, now there's a new Monza, and it's even more mouth-watering than ever.

This all-new Monza Concept – to get its public reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show – is said to preview the future of Vauxhall models to come, and benefits from lightweight design, innovative powertrains and LED projection technology for the infotainment system. Sounds very spacey indeed!

“The Monza Concept represents the Opel/Vauxhall car of tomorrow,” said Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann, Opel/Vauxhall CEO. “On one hand, it embodies everything that already characterises Opel/Vauxhall – precision engineering combined with innovative technologies wrapped in captivating design. In addition, it addresses the themes that will be the development-focus of the next generation of Opel/Vauxhall cars: maximum connectivity and optimum efficiency.”

This new Monza Concept is indeed a feast of curves and aggressive design, with a rear-end that looks to be a cunning mix of the estate car and a high-end shooting brake. But we still see some styling cues from current Vauxhall models, like the rear flanks of the Insignia saloon.

Most striking of all however are the extra large gullwing doors that reach skywards to reveal the entire 4-seat interior. It looks like a bird of prey about to take flight!

See the new Monza Concept on the Opel/Vauxhall stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
