Vauxhall vans' success built on Vivaro

Vauxhall has once again been named as Britain's number one van maker by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), picking up the title for the 12th year running.

In 2013, the company was celebrating 110 years of building and selling vehicles. What better way to start a new era than with this latest accolade.

According to Vauxhall, its success in 2013 was largely down to its Vivaro model, with UK sales of the commercial vehicle up 34 per cent when compared to last year - selling a total of 18,180.

Managing director and chairman of Vauxhall Duncan Aldred said the company is delighted with the recognition of being the country's top van manufacturer.

“The Luton-built Vivaro is the lynchpin of our award-winning van range so it’s a fantastic way to round off our 110th birthday celebrations,” he said.

Later in 2014, Vauxhall is set to release an all new version of the Vivaro. If the success is anything like what the current model has achieved, the manufacturer is surely on course for a 13th successive title.
