Autotrader was founded by John Madejski in 1975 and started life as a printed magazine that quickly became the 'go to' publication for anybody that wanted to buy or sell a car. By January 2000, a whopping 368,000 copies were flying off the shelves every week.

Autotrader.co.uk launched in 1996 and operated alongside the printed magazine until its discontinuation in 2013.
