Abarth Fiat 500 shows ability to hold value

Fans of the Fiat 500 have had their choice of vehicle vindicated by the publication of a new report.

Data from a recent survey by valuation specialists CAP, the Abarth version of the motor is among the top three lowest depreciating cars in the UK.

The car, described by CAP as a 128mph pocket rocket, placed third in the list behind the Audi Q5 and Skoda Yeti.

According to the report, the 500 carries an average resale value of 60 per cent of its list price, based on three years or 30,000 miles of use.

Ivan Gibson, head of Abarth in the UK, welcomed the news, saying: "Right from the start we had the plan to build in long-term value to the Abarth brand.

"A sustainable cost of ownership is something we have always been able to offer Abarth drivers and, add to that the fact that the Abarth 500 is a timeless and highly attractive car, it’s no wonder that it has done so well in this important research."
