Dacia's Sandero has been named Small Hatchback of the Year at the Honest Awards.

The five-door hatchback, described as a smash-hit vehicle, beat off stiff competition from the likes of Ford Fiesta, Honda Jazz and Toyota Yaris to pick up this prestigious title.

"Dacia has made a big splash in the UK with its affordable model range and our users have shown what an appetite there is for low priced yet good quality cars," commented Dan Harrison, editor of honestjohn.co.uk.

"Its 'function over frivolity' image has huge appeal at a time when car buyers are looking to keep running costs down. The fact that the Sandero has proved more popular on the site than many established hatchbacks is a mighty impressive feat."

A roomy hatchback, the Sandero has a 320-litre boot space and split-folding rear seat, allowing busy families to carry lots of luggage.

It is also home to a state-of-the-art TCe petrol engine that delivers exceptional fuel economy without compromising on performance.

This powerful and energy-efficient engine also provides 90bhp from its 3-cylinder, 900cc engine, and still has the ability to achieve 56.5 mpg combined and CO2 emissions of 116 g/km.
