Emotional Vettel revels in Monza win
The Italian Grand Prix in Monza turned out to be another success for the Renault Sport Formula One team after Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel secured yet another win.
German Vettel spectacularly overtook Ferrari rival Fernando Alonso early on and held on to claim another win and all but secure his Championship crown for another year.
The win was particularly special for Vettel as it brought back memories of his first career win.
Indeed, the driver, who has enjoyed a formidable season so far, was reduced to tears on the podium after the race.
"This circuit means a lot to me and has been very special. Obviously, I got my first win here, so when I crossed the line I remembered every single bit and the podium is unbelievable. When you stand up there you feel so blessed. It doesn’t happen to many people," he said in the post-race conference.
"It is just unbelievable. A circuit that has been tough for us to be competitive at the last two years and [we] come back this year and, really, the car was amazing."
