Hyundai has signed up some of the biggest names from the world of football in order to boost the profile of its model range.

The South Korean manufacturer is looking to appeal to a younger audience with the signing of Iker Casillas, the Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper.

Arsenal-bound German striker Lukas Podolski, former Manchester United forward Giuseppe Rossi, who will play for Italy this summer, French Real Madrid ace Karim Benzema and Chelsea's impressive young English striker Daniel Strurridge have also been named as part of the firm's new marketing strategy.

Together, the group of brand ambassadors will be known as Team Hyundai and they will all assist the manufacturer in its promotional activity at this summer's Uefa Euro 2012 tournament.

The announcement comes as part of a new initiative to inspire younger players to realise their ambitions in the game.

Hyundai's 'Game-changers' project includes a maximum donation of 250,000 (£208,000) with £1 being donated every time one of Team Hyundai is "liked" on the firm's global Facebook page.

Allan Rushforth, senior vice-president and chief operating officer of Hyundai Motor Europe, explained: "The five ambassadors will be rivals on the field during the upcoming Uefa EURO 2012, but they are united by their passion for football and it's a great pleasure to bring them together as Team Hyundai.

"Their determination and talent sets them apart on the field, and every Team Hyundai player has the potential to be a game-changer during this year's tournament."

The news comes shortly after French DJ David Guetta and wife Cathy were named as ambassadors of the new Renault Twizy.

Guetta's involvement was revealed at the model's debut at the 82nd International Motor Show in Geneva and will see the DJ release a new edit of his track Alphabeat, which appears on his latest album.
